Dr Hamlin
This work is among a series of works on « Stop early marriage and one of its consequences: obstetric fistula ». Dr Hamlin, founder of the Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia is shown in the painting wearing her hospital gown & looking into the horizon. The felines present in the room are a metaphore to the challenges of eliminating obstetric fistula. A big-sized ear, attached to the wall signifies the challenge of making people listen. Listen so that those who perform early marriage will understand their mistakes and stop. The background of the Alpine landscape narrates mountains as endurance and the influence of the artist by migration.
